Hey it’s me and it’s time for another round up! August started out with me FINALLY getting a 35mm lens. And the day it arrived Ben was gone with the kids so I tested it out on other things around the house. We squeezed in some last days of summer fun in August and I discovered that my children are obsessed with tomatoes. Every day after coming home they'd pick one off the plant and eat it like an apple! I barely got to have any!
We also did a staycation with my family and checked out little local spots in Northeast Iowa that we had never visited or hadn't been to in years. It was a lot of fun and reminded us of all that Iowa has to offer. We visited the Hawkeye Buffalo Ranch, Dunning Springs, the Ice Cave, and the Fish Hatchery in Decorah, St. Anthony's Smallest Church, The Pioneer Village in Nashua, and the restored one room school house in Fredericksburg. We also had some good summer time fun with fishing, water balloon fights, bonfires, and kickball.
In September, we did a quick trip to Wisconsin with my husband's family. We celebrated my father in laws birthday, did some fishing and hung out around the bonfire. Unfortunately, it rained most of the time we were there. We did head to Devil's Lake State Park and hiked around in the mist. I wish I had brought my camera because the views were amazing, but I didn't want to risk it getting rained on! That was one of the coolest state parks I have ever been to. I highly recommend if you're anywhere near there! I did take lots of photos with my phone though, so I thought I'd still share them on here. On the way home the clouds finally cleared and we stopped at Shihata's Orchard in Prairie Du Chien. The kids absolutely loved it, and Ben took over the camera to actually get some shots of me with the kids.
